El escritor y director y CEO de Pixar, Pete Docter, el prolífico creador de series de televisión Craig McCracken y la fallecida Evelyn Lambart, conocida por sus cortometrajes, recibirán cada uno el Premio Winsor McCay por su trayectoria o trayectoria.
La autora, historiadora y educadora Mindy Johnson recibirá el premio June Foray por su impacto significativo, benévolo o caritativo en la industria de la animación. El Premio Ub Iwerks por logros técnicos se otorgará a la Plataforma de referencia de efectos visuales, inicialmente desarrollada por Nick Cannon y Francois Chardavoine para eliminar las incompatibilidades entre el software de creación de contenido digital. El Premio Certificado al Mérito por su servicio al arte y la industria se entregará al actor de doblaje John Omohundro.
ASIFA-Hollywood es la organización detrás de la ceremonia y se dedica a promover el arte de la animación y celebrar a las personas que lo crean. ASIFA (Association Internationale du Film d'Animation), apoya una variedad de actividades de animación y esfuerzos de preservación a través de su membresía. Las iniciativas actuales incluyen el Archivo de Animación, la Fundación de Ayuda a la Animación, la preservación de películas animadas, el apoyo de fuente abierta de animación, eventos especiales, proyecciones y, por supuesto, los Premios Annie anuales.
Creados en 1972 por la locutora y actriz de voz veterana June Foray (Rocky en Rocky y Bullwinkle y La Abuelita en los Looney Tunes), los Premios Annie han crecido en alcance y estatura durante cinco décadas.
Los Premios Annie 2023 se transmitirán en vivo en el sitio oficial de los Annies el próximo 25 de febrero del 2023.
